Hi everyone. Need help on reseting oil light on my 2005. Is it done the same way as resetting my maintenance required light on my 03? Please help. Thanks.:)

The procedure is similar, but not the same as your '03.

With the ignition 'ON' but the engine not running, use the information select button on the gauge panel to display the oil life. (Touring models use the info select button on the steering wheel)

Press and hold the select button until the oil life display starts to flash (this will also bring up any maintenance sub-codes if they are not already displayed, so be sure to note the sub-codes, because the reset procedure will reset the Maintenance Minder as well as the oil life).

Once the oil life is flashing, release the select button, and then press and hold it once again - after a few more seconds, the oil life will reset to 100%.

Hey Ram, just out of curiosity, how many miles did it take for the OLM to indicate an OC was needed? I'm at ~1300mi on my 2008 and it's at 80%.

Thanks guys, that was a great help!!! Just trying to help a friend:) To answer mtpockets, not sure, but when my friend did the oc on his, he was just doing a 3000 mile interval, with the OLM at 45% so... I'd say 7000-7500? Hope this helps.:)

3,000 miles is so last century!

I'm glad to have the automated oil change reminder but does it have to come on at 15%, and does it have to not go away after a few minutes?!?

My first two changes I did at 10% but realized that was wasting that 10% of oil life, so now its 0%, especially since I'm using Mobil 1.

No doubt about that. I used to do 3mo/3K years ago when gasoline was just over a buck a gallon.:( These days, if no OLM, I'll go ~6Kmi with inexpensive oil. Synth blend or better, I'll follow the OLM. The 2.2L Ecotec in my Cobalt does scare me though. That sucker will go beyond 10Kmi before I get below 10% on the OLM. I can't bring myself to go beyond ~7Kmi with conventional or synthetic blend.
