I've got a 2008 Odyssey and I'm wanting to put my Valentine 1 and Tolltag in it. I can't find it in the manual, but if its in clear sight, I appologize, but what the heck are the black dots?

I called Valentine and they said it would be fine to put it behind the dots; however, they recommended finding some door sensors that setoff the detector and testing it that way.

Any idea if they will cause issues? It seems like a lot of wasted space if I can't put the detector and tolltag up there.

Thanks.

i am not completely sure but i believe that it is the antenna for the radio.

It is not the antenna. It is just a shade to make up for the visors not going over the mirror. The antenna is actually in the pass rear window.

here's how someone mounted theirs
Stargazer's Garage: 2006 Honda Odyssey - 9229 km - V1 radar detector installed (http://istargazer.blogspot.com/2007/06/2006-honda-odyssey-9229-km-v1-radar.html)
anyways there are two antennas on the ody, on the the rear window and one somewhere on the front windshield, and yea, its not the dots.

I was pretty unsure about placing my Valentine behind the black dots on the windshield but it was such a great place that I decided to do a several week test.
For 10 days I had the detector mounted below the mirror in clear site and drove to work thru the regular radar and laser traps and false signals. I noted the places that it would pick up the signal and let me know.
Then for the next 10 days, I mounted it on top of the mirror behind the dots, but on the lower edge.
Again, same routes and noting where the detector would pick up the signals. Fortunately, all the traps were pretty regular and I was able to compare the two locations very well.
To my surprise, the dots made very little difference at all! So I choose to mount my detector permanently there out of the way, and out of site.
Hope that helps someone out there!!
