Hello out there,
I just bought a new set of complete rims and tires from Tire Rack for my 2011 Odyssey Touring. I have read that the Touring should reset automatically but that is not happening. Anyone out there know if it is true that the Touring resets and have any insight if I can reset the thing myself?

did you use the existing tpms valves on the new rims or did the new rims come with tpms valves?

generally I believe that if you use new tpms valves they need to be synced with your vehicle.

If you use your existing tpms valves your vehicle should recognise the valves and re set them slves.

hope this helps.

I purchased the tires complete with new sensors from Tire Rack. What a pain in the arse that it has to go to the dealer.....

Yes, that is absolutely correct. I did the same thing for my 2011 Canadian Touring (same as the Touring Elite in the US) and took it back to the dealer for reprogramming for a nominal charge ($20 and tax) to get the new wheels from Tire Rack geared up for snow.

I did run into a minor snag though -- one of the aftermarket TRW TPMS sensors supplied by Tire Rack had a low battery, and gave the dealer's technician a bit of grief getting it programmed. I sent a note to Tire Rack customer service and they sent out a replacement TRW TPMS sensor to replace the one with the low battery. Nice move for them... :)

I was a bit peeved when I first discovered this 'feature' on the new Ody as I was hoping it would have the same wheel-specific TPMS system that is used in the current Pilots. In a Pilot, each wheel well has an independent receiver that picks up the signals from the TPMS sensors in the wheels mounted inside each wheel well, and displays the individual tire pressure info inside the vehicle relative to each wheel. Whenever your change over your wheels, all you need to do is drive the Pilot for a few miles or kilometers until the new TPMS sensors are recognized by the receivers inside each wheel well. In the Odyssey, each sensor is programmed directly to the TPMS computer, and this can only be programmed with a special tool from the dealer.
