I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The tailgate latch is causing me problems. Most of the time, the door will not unlock when I press the unlock button on the key fob. I can unlock the door by removing the panel above the door latch and inserting my key into the white mechanism and turning. After I do this the tailgate will unlock a few times, but you can here it straining to do so. I assume I need to replace something. Is this an accuator problem? A latch problem? Is the replacement a DIY job?

well this sound pretty tricky to me. can be anything. check with a dealer. that's all i can say for now.
