Seems strange there is nothing here about this. It's really a problem, Honda has no solution yet but say they are working on it. I have had this problem on an 07 and now the 08 I own. See Edmunds.com forum for the many threads.

Read some of the 130+ in Edmunds.com forum and make your decision. In reply to my case with Honda on this, got a call last week saying their engineering dept is still working on the soft brake problem.

Our 2008 EX-L has had a spongy pedal since we bought it in April 2008. It nearly goes to the floor on heavy braking. In my opinion, it's very close to being a safety issue. Although I should have done it sooner, I just made an appointment with the dealer service department.
Another problem with the brakes is after only 3,000 miles, the steering wheel started shaking on heavy braking. Typically this means warped rotors, but who knows for sure?
Our Odyssey also has the dreaded buzzing/rattling noise at the rear of both front windows, which is especially bad in cross winds.
Our lease runs through April 2011, but there's no way I can live with these problems that long. I'll let you know what Honda says.
Prior to the Odyssey, our family has had one Civic and four Accords dating back to a 1983 Accord hatchback. However, I have to say this is probably our last Honda.:(

Too bad you are entertaining this as being your last Honda. I have now owned three Hondas, 2 Accords ('03, '07) and our Odyssey ('08). I can't say I am experiencing the issues with my Honda that you are with yours. Hope you get them worked out soon as to not persuade you to purchasing another vehicle.
While the pedal of the Odyssey may have more give then the Accords or Civics, don't forget the vehicle is roughly twice to three times the weight of the other. She's no small fry!

There's a service bulletin on this. The trim aft of the window is vibrating. I accomplished the work myself. Easy fix - took about 10 minutes.
