Hi All,
We are having an issue with our 05 Odyssey, 3.5 and hope someone here can help. The engine had a skip in it at highway speeds this past winter. We brought it in to our mechanic as it was due for the 100K service. The timing belt, spark plugs etc were changed and it was running fine. It recently started skipping again after driving at highway speeds. Sometimes it would take up to an hour before the issue would start. We had it scanned numerous times and no codes were present.
The last time we brought it in to the shop, two mechanics took it out, one driving and one watching for misfires on a scanner. An occasional misfire was noted on the scanner from various cylinders, but no running issue was noted. After a half hour on the road, the mechanics felt the engine miss and the scanner was picking up multiple cylinders misfiring. After a hour on the road, 5 of the 6 cylinders had misfired.
When they returned to the shop, they checked resistance of the coils, comparing them to the one that hadn't misfired, no problem was found.
They put in a new set of plugs because it seemed to have worked the last time but no change.
The mechanic found a note in his scanner stating that clogged EGR ports could cause misfires and rough running between 40 and 70 MPH, however he said he has never seen clogged ports not set off a EGR code and has never heard of this causing a misfire. He also said that other than the note on the scanner, he hasn't seen any mention of clogged EGR ports causing misfires in his research of this problem.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried different fuel?
