The rear liftgate on our 06 Odyssey won't open. We can hear the lock unlocking in the door, but when you try to squeeze the latch handle to open the door it will not move. This just happened recently, nothing odd or different about the van before or after, just won't open. Ideas?

Interesting that the same thing happened to us on our 2003 about a week ago. Seemed sluggish with the hatch not always unlocking when I thought it should but finally just quit altogether. Would love any insight that anyone might be able to give!!

This should be covered by your comphrensive warranty, should it be finished contact Honda customer service directly (Honda USA if your are in the US or Honda Canada) and request "GOODWILL CONSIDERATION", I'm sure you'll get this repair free.

If you read in the owners manual there is a way to manually unlock it, I think that there is a plastic peace that pops off of the inside of the door then you use your key to unlock it. That’s what it says in my 2008.

Haven't had that problem ... knock on wood, lol ... and I haven't check mine yet but like 2008 odyssey said there's usually a manual release somewhere by the latch, usually behind a plastic cover of some sort. Use it to open the door but also get to the dealer to let them fix it, sounds like the latch is faulty.

Our 06 Odyssey has a manual tail gate. Although it is unlocked it will not open. The handle cannot be pulled as it would normally and open the gate. I removed the access panel, and the door panel from inside the van. the cable is not broken and I have manually unlocked the gate. Still it will not open, even when I pull the cable by hand, bypassing the handle mechanism. How do I get the latch to release?

Have an 05, and we are having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution to your problem. The lock mechanism unlocks when we use the power door lock, and I've even tried that manual key unlock from the inside hidden door you're mentioning. Still nothing. When you pull the door handle on the outside, it feels "cushy" the resistance is increased and nothing happens?

Perhaps, this is a dumb question but I just couldn't figure it out.

I have been trying to remove/open the top black plastic engine cover of my 2005 honda odyssey but all in vain. I saw only 2 10mm plastic bolts on the front side of the cover. Are there any extra bolts around the cover? How do I remove the engine plastic cover?
