On the '95 Odyssey I recently purchased only one of the windows works, the driver's side rear. The motor runs in the driver's door but the window doesn't move with it and the window can be pushed up and down regardless of what the motor is doing. I think that there's something wrong inside the motor's gearbox, is the gearbox a part of the motor unit?

I've also heard that all four window motors are the same, is this true?

Neither of the passenger side windows work, not even any noise at all out of the motors when you use the switch. I'm planning to take one of the doors apart and put power directly to the motor and see if that gets some action. If so then there's bad wiring, if not then it's a bad motor.

Well, the driver's window is fixed! I took the motor out and disassembled it and discovered that there had been a failure in the drive system. The motor itself drives a worm gear which in turn spins a gear connected to a shock absorbing "rubber sandwich". This is a disc of rubber with two metal plates on either side. One plate has teeth in it to grab the gear and the other disc has a slotted hole in it to grab the drive shaft for the gear that actually lifts the window. This second plate had ripped free from the rubber causing the failure of the window's drive system.

I degreased everything and got some epoxy that would bond metal to rubber. I polished up the metal plate and epoxied it back onto the rubber. Both plates have tiny holes in them that were originally filled with rubber. I tapped one plate for 4-40 screws and countersunk the other plate so flat head screws would sit flush. There are 8 holes all the way around the disc so there are now 8 screws holding this thing together in addition to the epoxy. Each screw also got some red loctite to make sure that this thing will never fail again.

So, that problem is fixed. Now to figure out what's wrong with the other side of the car. I believe that there is an electrical/wiring issue there because the motors don't activate at all in either door.
