Hello friends

I just purchased a used 06 odyssey EX-L with DVD from a non honda dealer.
It still has 2 months bumper to bumper warranty left and I wanted to make the most use of it to make sure the car is up to date with TSB, service records, do the 150 point inspection by Honda etc. Bascially anything which is covered under warranty, I need Honda to fix it.

Some questions are.
Do I just call the dealer and tell me to do a full check up.
Will they be honest enough?
DO I go to a one honda dealer ask them to check everything, then go another honda dealer and ask them to fix it?

What is the best way?
Thank You
Faz

It will vary from dealer to dealer but my take is that they would charge you for the time to check it out.

If you go in with a specific problem that ends up being a warranty item then Honda pays them for the diagnosis time of that individual item.

Unless the 150 point inspection was part of a larger service package you were having done they would charge you for the time needed to do the inspection. And if you want them to check every item that is covered by warranty, I would think it would take several hours. Which could get expensive.

If they found a problem that would be covered under warranty and you go to a second dealer for the repair then you would have to pay the first dealer for their diagnosis time as the second dealer would have to recheck the problem to be able to do a warranty repair on it.

Ideally it's a much better to take it to your mechanic or an independant garage and document all that is in need to be replaced then take it to Honda for them to perform the work, make sure Honda doesn't give you excuses like "this is the normal chracteristics of the vehicle" etc.

Yea the dealer's gonna charge you for the inspection (unless they have a special going on) but so will any garage, even AAA offers an inspection service but they charge $99 even for members! I like to stick with the dealer but being as you don't have one yet maybe take it to an independent garage (like AAA) and see what they say and then take it to the dealer to have those repairs done.

Now that's for repairs, as for TSBs go check and see which ones apply to you and print them out and go straight to the dealer to have them done, no problems there, they get reimbursed by Honda for them.
