Spoken in any language — from the formalness of Japanese to the twang of good-ol' Southern English — the numbers and accomplishments of Honda Manufacturing of Alabama sound strong. We're getting accustomed to that.

Recently, the news came that Honda's Odyssey had overtaken the Dodge Caravan and become the best-selling minivan in the United States — no small feat, considering the prolific nature of minivans on American roads. Reading like a football score on steroids, the Odyssey bested the Caravan by about 3,400 units sold.

This came on the heels of an important milestone at Honda's manufacturing plant in Lincoln, which in October built its 1 millionth Odyssey less than six years after the Japanese automaker opened its east Alabama facility. Lincoln remains the sole manufacturer of the best-selling minivan in the land.

So, congrats to Honda, its suppliers and those who had a hand in bringing the automaker to Alabama. Six years of operations. A million minivans. The nation's top seller.
