Just bought an 07 touring. I noticed the brake petal seems soft after I drove it around for a day or so. It has 18800 miles on it. I was wondering how many miles most people are out of their brakes. Unlike the older Hondas the pads seem to wear rather fast, at least from my experience with a 91 Civic vs 01 Civic.

Some people claim that there pedal seems soft. But you have to ask yourself a few questions. 1. What was your previou car. Every car seems different. A freinds Ford taurus as soon as you touch the brake it starts to apply the brakes. My ford zx2 you have to push it about half way to get it to stop. 2. You can check your brakes. Many people report they warp early and there pads are almost gone. Not hard to replace. There is also a tsb for soft brakes. I don't know if it is for your 07 thow. Here it is http://www.in.honda.com/pubs/SB/A07-045.PDF
Some reason the above link dosen't work. Click on the link below and scoll down to you find Brake pedal is low and feels soft. There is actually a list of tsb's. Hope this helps.

We're not getting very many miles out of our brakes either. Have an 06 Touring and at 14K the pads were gone and squeeking. Luckily there was a TSB for that and the dealer did it no problem. Thing is last time we took it in the fronts pads were gone again and it had only been 12K miles!! Huh?!?! Pads gone twice in 26K?!?! That's not right. I argued and argued with the service guy that something else was wrong but he stuck with "it's the way you're driving". Wrong. We had a 99 Durango 4X4 before this and it went 45K on it's fronts (that's no bs).

Anyway they ended up doing the fronts again n/c as a "coutesy" but I still think something else is going on for the pads to wear out in 12K miles.

I own a 2001 odyssey and my pads went over 50,000km before I replace them, I probably could have get 5000km more, if you are having short life on the original pads I would try a premium aftermarket probably ceramic pads.
Goodluck.

We just replaced the fronts at 29,000 miles. The rears still had about 50% left. It all depends on how you drive....are you a heavy braker or a light braker? How often is the vehicle loaded with more than just the driver?

We have the Touring which is a little heavier so brake life will be shorter.
