I'm the new kid on the block. Have 'o6 Touring w/ PAX and would like to replace them with conventional wheels and tires. Have 35,000 mi., side wall on all tires are cracking, outside of one tire is wearing more than others
(I understand that a bulletin was issued by Honda stating this was normal). I would like to replace them with a similar apperance. Would like to keep exixting or new TPMS sensors, but not a must. Live in a rural area, cannot do the work myself due to age, would like to give information to a local tire dealer if possible.

For what it is worth... we have an '06 Touring with PAX and I wrestle with this idea weekly. I have replaced the tires once so far and I do not intend to do it again! Our Ody is currently leased and the lease is up in Sept. If we decide to keep this one, (I know the service history :D), I will replace with tires and rims from the Tire Rack. In '07 you can buy a Touring w/o PAX - so I am using sizing info from that model to plan the replacements. Keep in mind that in addition to 4 tires and rims, you will ALSO NEED an additional rim and tire for use as a spare! That console in the floor that we rarely use for storage, needs to be reconfigured to house the spare... I have no idea if that is easy or not... On the other hand... a rarely used EX-L w/DVD might be a lesser expense in the long run.... see, you have to look at every angle....

I would keep your like you said because you know the service records and I would replace with other rims and tires. Oh by the way, the touring came with the option of no pax in 08 not 07.

Yea you need a spare but not a place to put it, the spare tire compartment on 06s and up is in the rear side panel on the driver's side and it's totally empty on Tourings, check it out. Under the floor is soley for storage now. I have an 06 Touring and the first thing I did was get an EX spare (on rim) off Ebay (wasn't expensive) and the hold down bolt from the dealer and installed it, was simple and not expensive.

Awesome! I'll check it out. I said I would get tires from TireRack in a recent post - actually, the guys at DiscountTire.com were a big help. There was nothing listed online, but a phone call gave me all the sizing info and help I wanted.:D

If I don't keep it, the wife wants to check out the Pilot, Mazda CX-9, or maybe the GMC Acadia. The hauling capacity is just fantastic and it has ALL the bells and whistles. I like the idea of the Toyota, but the wheels look so tiny and it is so expensive! I can't imagine spending $$$ in this economy, so we are definately leaning toward buying out the lease. The lease was a great idea until she went from driving from 12-15K a year to 25-30K! We may still make it in under mileage...

Since my van is out of warranty, I wasn't too concerned about swapping out the pax system. After much internet research, I de-paxed my '06 using 17" wheels and tires from TireRack, and the oem tire monitors. I got about 35k out my original pax tires and opted to replace them with the Sport Edition wheels and Continental tires. I didn't bother disassembling the pax wheels, so I bought new tire monitors and the entire spare tire kit (not cheap!) from the local dealer. The independent tire installer had to use washers to shim the valves/monitors to the rims, otherwise the valve threads are too short to secure them. Everything looks and works great. While it cost almost as much to de-pax the van as the dealer was charging to put new pax tires on, it'll save a lot of money on the next set of tires. It might even save some money on gas and brakes since the new wheels are a lot lighter than the original system.

Isnt this as simple as asking for:
Bolt Pattern
Width
Diameter
Offset
Backspace

Whats the above for the PAX rim?

Then go shopping?
