We bought our 03 Odyssey June last year. The car had 45,000 miles and was certified and we bought the Honda extended warranty. A couple of weeks after our purchase we notice small chunks of foam would fly out of the two center air vents. By the time we realized this was not a fluke, we had moved out of state. Once settled down in our new area, we brought our car into the local Honda dealer to see what they could do for the foam issue. Well the typical dealer response, you would have to pay us a couple of hundred dollars just to see what the problem could be and they felt it was not a warranty issue and suggested going back to the dealer we purchased the car from. Not happening since we are 1,200 miles away. The foam issue came and gone a couple of times and then came back recently, as we noticed increased dust in the car. So back to another dealer we had the cabin air filter changed and figured they would probe around to see what might be going on. The tech met with us and agreed this was a weird problem and was thinking it might be the seal behind the dash panel, however it looked like it was coming deeper in the duct almost like the foam was deteriorating but he would poke around since we were getting the filter changed. Today talked to the service advisor (different one from Friday) and we got the canned answer like we had from the past dealer, we can’t do anything unless you pay us the labor to take apart the dash, and the filter box was clean but the filter was dirty. Now we are concerned that we are breathing pieces of foam if it is in fact breaking apart, and wanted to see if any one had this type of problem or might have an idea what might be going on? Please help!
