Starting in 1999 till 2001 they had tranny problems. 1999 started the 2nd gen and you have a 1st gen. They fixed it in 2002 but still had problems but not as many. Half way threw 04 they are pretty much fixed for good. My 97 has over 250k on it, and no problems. My 95 has 170k - no transmission problems. I think the 98 trans are only slightly different than the 95-97. I Agree with kscha - 99-01, very bad. 02-03, bad, 04, okay. Just one quick note - I bought a 04 with a bad transmission...failed right at 130k. lizzurd 05-23-2009, 02:46 PM The 98 Oddy does not use external sensors. The impact sensor is built into the SRS unit. 4cylody 05-23-2009, 04:31 PM Thanks for your replies, i am glad that i may not have transmision problem (if i take care of my van :p ). i just bought this van, the front bumper is damaged and SRS light is on, so i thought that there is a sensor somewhere around the bumper that need replacement, i can't read the code for the SRS, my scanner can only read check engine light. 4cylody 05-23-2009, 04:35 PM The 98 Oddy does not use external sensors. Since you don't have side air bags there isn't side impact sensors.
