Hi everyone,
I just wanted to get people's opinion on a problem that I had on a brand new 2009 Odyssey which I bought in April. When slowing down from any speed above 60mph, the steering wheel would pulsate. I assumed it to be the rotors. I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and sure enough, all four rotors had "high spots" (according to the service paper they gave me). The service department removed all four rotors and machined them to remove the "high spots".
Here is where my argument starts. I feel as though I just spent $30,000 on a new car and the new car came with defective rotors. They should have been replaced with brand new rotors instead of having been machined down. Machining them down also would cut the life of the rotors. I feel like I have a valid point. What do you guys think?

I have heard of this before plenty of times about the ody(it can happan to all cars from sitting on the lots). Now that the economy is bad, not may people ae buying cars. Most of the time they just machine them, but I have read before that somebody got them to replace them. Alther you go back to the dealer and give them your argument or just say they are still doing it and you want them replaced. Or you can go to another dealer and see if they are any better.

Speak to the service manager directly and insist that the ROTORS BE REPLACED and that's non negiotable, if you don't speak firmly you wouldn't get by, if need be I would call Honda toll free number.
Goodluck.

Just to add to my earlier reply, they should replace all rotors and brake pads as well, this is what they're suppose to do. Many times when I'm at the dealership I noticed many customers accept with a smile whatever the service advisor says to them without asking questions, no disrespect - service advisors are not mechanics.
Goodluck.

To be fair to Honda, (and NO, I do not in any way work for them or their suppliers) I would not expect them to replace pads, (including previous wear) UNLESS there was damage caused by the rotors, which seems unlikely.
