Hey guys,
First post here. We're moving across the country from SF Bay to Keokuk, Iowa as part of my orders with the Coast Guard. I'd like to tow my 1969 VW Bug across with my VW tow bar. The dealer wants nearly $1500 to install transmission and power steering oil coolers.

Is there a cheaper option to this? I'd rather not ship the VW, but the price to install the coolers is twice the shipping amount.

What year ody do you have? How many total miles will you be traveling? How is the terrain? Hilly, smooth?

do u have a hitch installed? i've been towing a vw bug from san jose,ca to sac and no problems without the transmission cooler. if your trip will be mostly flat you should be ok. i've used the vw tow bar and it works great..
