On my 2003 Odyssey the gear shift lever does not go past "D". I purchased the vehicle a year ago and was recently in the smoky mountains. Going downhill, I tried to shift to lower gear but it would not go past "D". I stopped the car and put it in park and tried again but it did not work. I have not taken the car to the dealer yet. Please let me know if anyonle knows about possible solution. Thanks.

Check your Owner's Manual on page 261. You move the lever down only (and not pull towards you) to shift from D to D3, etc.
