Hi, I became the owner of a 2010 EX-L (silver) a couple weeks ago and happy to find this forum. I do have a few first impressions to share and questions too:

1) The van is so smooth! Not only the powertrain with a strong and efficient engine, smooth shifting auto, tight steering with small turning circle, even the switches have a very highend smooth feel! It doesn't drive like a van at all, feels a lot smaller!
2) My other car is an 07 CR-V LX. Even on the base LX, there is a nice digital display with trip computer (mpg, mile to empty, etc.) But on the Odyssey EX-L with is 50% more expensive, I can't find those features! Com'on!
3) Again, even the base CR-V radio comes with SVC (Speed-sensitive Volume Control). So far I can't find that on the EX-L.
4) Question: Can I turn off the dimming mirror permanently and turn it on only when I need it? Every time the car restarts, it's back on again.
5) Question: Do I have to wait for all doors shut before locking? It's an annoyance to stand there waiting for the sliders and hatch then to lock the car. Is this a programmable feature?
6) Opinion needed: I am looking to buy a set of rubber mats and can't decide between OEM and Weathertech. I like WT's liners with deep walls, esp. on first row but I need to access the underfloor bin at 2nd row which only the OEM allows. I wish I could just order the OEM 2nd row alone. I read other threads on this too but couldn't reach a conclusion. Besides, OEM only offers black or tan, neither will looks good with my gray interior.
7) Same thing on the mugflags and cargo tray, OEM only offers black! Anyone know of nice silver flags and gray trays products?

Sorry for the long post, afterall I love this van, it's not perfect but I am very satisfied with it and looking forward to years of enjoyment!

Thanks for your answers in advance! -Joe

Joe -

Congratulations. I've owned my 2008 EX-L (silver) Odyssey for a little over a year.

1) I like driving my Odyssey as well. The only time I don't like it is when I am parking in tight places or in the garage. I should have purchased the back-up sensors accessory (on my wish list). I would love to have the power tailgate as well but I got a much better deal on the '08...

2) I believe the trip computer function is on the Touring model. It would be nice if it was on the EXL but oh well. I was not aware that the LX CR-V had this feature...

3) I don't believe the EXL has SVC although it does have some sort of noise reduction circuitry (ANC?) that works with the radio (think it kicks in when the engine deactivates cylinders.

4) I'm sure there must be a way for you to turn off the dimming mirror. You might be able to use buy a factory Odyssey dash switch (parking sensor, subwoofer, etc) and tie it into the wiring for the mirror. A more permanent solution might be to pull the fuse - but am not sure if there would be adverse affects with doing so.

5) I know the lock/unlock feature can be programmed but am not aware if it is possible to do what you've requested.

6) I have the OEM rubber Honda mats in my gray interior. They look pretty good and have saved my carpet multiple times (two small kids).

7) My guess is that these items are offered in black since that color universally goes with just about anything. I'm guessing the mugflags are the mud flaps/guards. Although to the best of my knowledge these only come in black I have seen a white odyssey with white mud flaps. All that might be necessary would be for you to talk with a collision repair shop and see if they could either paint them for you or help direct you in the right direction to do the work yourself.

Thanks for replying. Things like the trip computer and SVC omitted was not because of cost I think because the fact that a $20K CRV has them. I think the 2011 new Ody will probably have all that standard. I guess these are the differences of cars designed in 2005 vs 2007.

Pulling the fuse on the mirror is not what I want because I still want to use it when needed. I guess I am not going to stop the car and put the fuse back in on the road. :) I guess I just have to get used to it.

The fact that gray is offered by other vendors like weathertech and huskyliners means it's a popular third choice besides black and tan. OEM is the only way to go as along as I still want to access that underfloor bin.
