But not a 08 Odyssey. An OG 98 Odyssey EX. This is my first Odyssey, but not my first Honda.

HONDA GHANDI is a Honda/Acura performance guru, so it's great to have him around here to share some info. Good to see you here!

We had two first generation Odysseys. (The first was totalled in a freak accident that sold our family on "Honda safety." The second gave us nearly 100K of flawless performance ... after the dealership sorted out a programming issue that involved the torque converter lock up point.) Since then we've had a second generation AND the new, third gen. My wife hopes this one wraps up her "mini-van years" & she can get a Pilot or MDX! :)

I have been looking for a 97-98 Oddy as a replacement for my wifes soon to be gone Civic. The good ones are still holding thier value up here and are getting hard to find.

Hi Lizzurd,

We're all hiding from the EOC over here! :D Seriously, it's better to get a '98 because of the V-tec, mine now has a 167K on it and is still running extremely strong. The experience I've had with this one was why I bought the E in '05.

Hey Chief

I am looking at a 98...but the guy wants $8000 for it. Besides the v-tec engine the 98 also has a nicer looking grille.

Yeah, I'm here also......Lizzurd, try looking for an Isuzu Oasis....same vehicle and I don't think they held their resale value as well as the Ody....

We never got the Oasis up here...same with the Passport. But it is something to consider. My bosses brother frequents the auctions in the states and i have seen a few come up now and then.

Lizzurd,

If you get it down here, that will be your best bet! A dealer would only offer a couple of grand on a trade-in down here. So that alone should tell you that you can get a really clean one for less than five. If I were you, I would utilize that auction contact you have. The V-tec is totally worth it, and the Izuzu doesn't have one. You really won't regret it.

The Isuzu Oasis was a re-badged Honda Odyssey and the 98 and 99 did have the vtec engine.

I agree, I am seriously not an Izuzu fan!

I would not touch a Rodeo or Passport...We dont have a dealer network up here any more to service them.

The Oasis is still an option since it was still just an Oddy with different trim.

It would be OK, I guess, as long as you totally debadged it and got ride of that cheesey chrome around the back license plate area! :D
