Regarding the digital A/C and Heat control on my '08 Odyssey, it is terribly designed and not user friendly. The simple control on my previous vehicle, '00 Accord was easier to maneuver. Yes, the appearance is nice, but operations are difficult. 1) Separate A/C button is defaulted as ON even though I use it less than 10% of the time--mainly to save energy/compressor; 2) toggling the digital temperature adjuster takes precious time away from looking at the road; 3) operating the rear controls manually is not allowed--driver must reach back to toggle overhead rear controls if children are in rear.
The result is that once in the van and I want to use manual temp controls, here is the sequence: hit Mode to turn on, hit A/C to turn off compressor, adjust temperature with rocker switch, adjust rear overhead control blindly after memorizing positions/functions.
I know that I could circumvent these conundrums if I operate using the Auto function. However, I would like the option to disable A/C compressor switch. Older manual controls seem easier: hit mode, adjust temp buttons and fan speeds--A/C compressor remains in on/off position from prior driving. Thus, in my opinion, newer is more difficult, older is easier.
