I called yesterday regarding a upgrade for my GPS and was told that a upgrade 4.738 was available and it would cost $185.00 plus $10.00 shipping.
My question is why does it cost so much? I have Garmin that I use in my other vehicle and I have a life time upgrade that only cost $125.00 and the upgrades are available every three months. I was also told that Alpine did the upgrades for Honda and that Honda had no say so on the prices they charge. It seems to me that Honda Corporation would have more control over what they charge, thus protecting their customers from being gouged with such a high upgrade cost. I was also told that there was a special on the upgrade of $149.00, but it ended July 31st. How are we supposed to know about the specials? Honda we need your help. |

I upgraded my 2007 disk for a 2010 because when I bought my Odyssey in March of 2010 our house was not in the database. Our house was built it 2005. If your residence isn't in the database, you can't use the GO HOME feature.
The $185 is outrageous but my dealer's parts guy said it would be $250 if I ordered it through them. WHEW! And get this, the two streets that were extended about 4 months after our house was built isn't on the new disk, so I know the database is still FOUR YEARS OLD! The price doesn't reflect their cost with a reasonable profit. They know they have you by the short hairs. I probably won't update for another five years. I can't believe HONDA couldn't negotiate a better price for its customers.
